Update Your Display Name in Canvas

Your Canvas display name is based on your Bellevue College account information. You cannot change your display name directly in Canvas.

To update the name that appears in Canvas, you must update your Preferred Name in ctcLink for Students.

Steps to Update Your Preferred Name in ctcLink

1. Sign in to ctcLink for Students using your ctcLink ID and password:
   https://www.bellevuecollege.edu/ctclink/students/
2. Select My Profile.
3. Select Biographical Information.
4. Under Names, select the edit option next to Preferred Name.
5. Update your information and select Save.

Important Notes

• Your Preferred Name may appear in Canvas class lists and your Canvas profile after the update has synced.
• Your legal name will continue to appear on certain official records, such as transcripts and other documents that require legal name information.
• If your updated name does not appear in Canvas after the expected processing time, contact Bellevue College IT support for assistance.
