Body
It is important to review recent activity on your Microsoft account to ensure there have not been any suspicious activity. Malicious actors often send users emails pretending to be Microsoft (phishing email) wanting to let you know of suspicious log in activity on your account. The phishing email will contain a link or button to a malicious/fake Microsoft website where you could 'see' the activity. The intent is to get users to log in with their credentials, so they can steal them.
It is best not to click on emails within emails, especially if you were expecting it.
There is one secure way to Review recent activity on your Microsoft account:
- If you are logged to Outlook on your web browser or any of the M365 applications, you can click on your profile picture or initials on the top right hand side, then select View Account

- --- OR --- Go to the Microsoft account page and sign in with your credentials
- If you see the older version of the My Account page,
- In the My Sign-ins section, click on Review Recent Activity
- Sign in again to verify your identity if prompted.

- If you see the newer version of the My Account page,
- From the left hand menu, click on My account
- Select Recent Activity from the list

- Review the Recent activity section to see when and where your account was accessed in the last 30 days.
- Expand any listed activity to view details such as location, device type, and access method. Please not that the actual location shown here might not match precisely your home location or the location where you may have connected. The location shown is the location of the Internet provider. It is possible your actual location was somewhere in Renton, Burien or Tukwila near the Seattle city limits, the Internet provider might show up as located in Seattle.

- If you see any unusual activity, confirm whether the activity was yours by selecting This was me or This wasn’t me.

- The absolute safest method to ensure no one else is using your account is to change your password on the spot. Go to Change Password on the home page of the old version of the My Account page or going to the My account left menu and selecting Change Password on the newer version of the page.
