Having trouble logging into Canvas?


Steps a user can take when they are unable to login to Canvas.



If you have run into issues logging into Canvas, one of the suggestions below will likely resolve your issue. If you have already tried the following suggestions and you are still unable to access Canvas, please contact our Service Desk for further assistance.

Did you just create your NetID?

NetID is short for "Network Identification" and is the first part of your Bellevue email address. If your email address is "username@bellevuecollege.edu", your NetID is "username". From the time you create your NetID, it can take up to 24 hours for your account to become fully activated. After your NetID is fully activated, it can take another 4-6 hours for your classes to appear in Canvas. It should not take more than 48 hours from the time you create your NetID until your courses are visible in Canvas.

When was the last time you changed your NetID password?

Your password expires every 120 days. Logging into Canvas, you will not see a notification that your password is about to expire. You can test your password by logging into your Bellevue E-mail. If you are not able to login you will need to Reset Your Password. We recommend resetting your password at the start of every quarter.

Are you receiving a “You have successfully logged out.” message?

This message will appear if you created your NetID within the last 24 hours.  See “”Did you just create your NetID?” above.

Are you using a compatible browser?

Canvas is typically compatible with the most current versions of browsers. It is important that you check to make sure both your browser and the version are listed on the Browser Requirements page. We recommend checking the compatibility page at least once per quarter.

Are you receiving an “Either your username or password were incorrect.” message?

If you are seeing this message, you should start by reviewing "When was the last time you changed your NetID password?" and "Are you using a compatible browser?" sections above. If you have done that and are still receiving the above error, you may need to clear your cache. The directions for clearing cache depend on what browser you are using. None of the above options have resolved the issue, what now?
