How to: Set-up Multi-Factor Authentication with a Phone

Summary

Please follow the instructions below to set-up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for your NetID account using a phone as the security method.


Setting up MFA:

  1. Sign into your Account using your BC credentials
  2. Select the Security Info option as shown below:

  3. Select the option to Add sign-in method and you will be presented with a drop-down menu of options as shown below:

Authentication Method - Phone

  1. You may choose the method that you are most comfortable with from the list of options (for this example, we will be choosing Phone). For Faculty and Staff, if you are not comfortable using a personal device, such as a cell phone, please contact our Service Desk for a physical USB security key
  2. Fill in the desired phone number and if you would like a code to be sent via Text or Call as shown below:

  3. Select Next and you will receive a code to enter. Once entered and verified, MFA will be enabled for your account! Please note that you can setup MFA with two separate phone numbers by using Alternative phone as a secondary method
