EDconnectFinancialAid

Summary

EDconnect is an application used by specific people in the Financial Aid Dept. Financial Aid supervisor can provide names of staff that need to utilize this application. Users have a security password and FOB key that generates a new key code each time they open EDconnect app.

When users access the site through the EDconnect application, data is retrieved and downloaded to an Access database located on \\shares\finaid

Configuring installation for user

All users of EDconnect need MODIFY permissions to \\shares\finaid before installing on computer. Users need to be a local admin for install (can remove admin permissions after install).

Configure UAC for user to be: "Nofify me only when apps try to make changes to my computer (do not dim my desktop" Change UAC back to lowest level after full installation of application and security patch

  1. Map drive to \\shares\finaid under users profile
  2. Copy both files (EdConnect 8.5 and 8.61) from \\insalls\pcinstalls\edconnect to the local PC users downloads folder.
  3. Run as Admin the EDconn850.exe application.
  4. Accept defaults during installation EXCEPT for the following:

During installation, choose: Workstation Install

  2. Click on Transmission icon on Toolbar

NOTES:

FinAid supervisors need to add new user names via the EDconnect application prior to tech installing and configuring the app for the user. Make sure that they have the drive letter selected for the drive they have mapped to \\shares\finaid by clicking the browse button and selecting it in the drop down, when they are creating the new user account in EdConnect. Spvsr knows how to do this.

Do NOT move the database from current location on \\shares\finaid. If you move it, it will break connections and network reinstall will have to be done. This is possible with

assistance from Tech Support and will require all users to be reconfigured and take a lot of time.

If you recieve a general error when attempting to login to EdConnect you can check the error logs by opening the Edconn.err file with Notepad located in C:\iam\SAIG_temp After the security patch is installed the modified date of the wsconn.dll file located in C:\Windows\SysWOW64
