How To: Enable Automatic Stapling for Canon Copiers

Summary

This Knowledge Base (KB) article will explain how to enable the automatic stapling feature possible with some of the canon copiers on campus.

Note: Stapling is not possible on all canon copiers and is currently only possible for Windows devices. Please see a list of copiers by location that have stapling enabled. Windows:

Part 1: Enabling the stapling function for the copier

  1. Open Settings on your computer
  2. Click "Bluetooth & devices"
  3. Click "Printers & scanners"
  4. Select either Copier-BW or Copier-Color
  5. Click "Printer properties"
  6. In the window that opens, click the "Device Settings" tab
  7. Scroll to the bottom, under "Installable Options"
  8. Click on "Staple Unit:" and change it to "Installed", then click "OK"

 

Part 2: Selecting if you want a document to be stapled

  1. When printing a document you want stapled, click "Printer Properties" or "Preferences" from that applications print menu
  2. In the window that appears, click on "Advanced"
  3. Under "Printer Features", click on "Stapling" and change it to the position you want the staple to go
  4. Click "OK" on that window, then click "OK" on the next window to go back to the print menu
  5. Make any other changes you need for your print job, then click "Print"
