What is Teams?

Teams is a software application that facilitates chat and phone communication. Beyond that, Teams delivers powerful collaborative features, allowing you and your teammates to work better together, more easily than ever.

Why is BC moving to Teams?

Communication: Whether you’re using Teams for chat-messaging your coworkers, or dialing out phone calls to businesses, Teams has you covered. Teams is one piece of software that does the work of several other tools. Due to the feature-rich nature of Teams, we expect Teams to simplify and streamline how the campus stays connected.

Collaboration: Teams offers entirely new, better ways for the Bulldog community to collaborate. Our belief is that these new tools will help us handle the complex, fast-paced, ever-changing challenges we face, day-in-and-day-out at this campus.

How will this affect me?

When: Beginning Friday, February 14th, Teams will automatically load when you sign into your computer. When it prompts you, feel free to sign in using your BC NetID, and begin exploring this exciting new software!

Chat: Teams will replace Skype for Business as BC’s primary chat software. With a straightforward and intuitive interface, Teams will easily handle all of our traditional chatting/direct-messaging needs.

Phone: Over the coming [period of time], Teams will be replacing all of our Mitel desk phones. Be sure to come by A109 and demo our new phone hardware options, including traditional desk-phones, as well as headsets that stay attached to your computer.
