Summary
Microsoft Teams is a communication and collaboration application available through Microsoft 365. Bellevue College employees and students can use Teams for online meetings, chat, file sharing, and collaboration.
Teams may be used for classes, meetings, group projects, departmental communication, and other college activities.
Getting Started with Microsoft Teams
Microsoft Teams brings conversations, meetings, files, and Microsoft 365 applications together in one place. Microsoft describes Teams as a central location for communication and collaboration.
Bellevue College employees and students should sign in to Teams using their Bellevue College NetID/E-mail.
Teams can be accessed through the Teams desktop application, web application, or mobile app. Employees and active students can download and install Microsoft Office 365, which includes Teams, on a person device.
Teams Meetings
Teams can be used for online classes, appointments, departmental meetings, group projects, and other virtual meetings.
During a Teams meeting, participants may have access to features such as:
- Microphone – Mute or unmute your microphone.
- Camera – Turn your camera on or off.
- Chat – Participate in the meeting conversation or ask questions.
- Raise Hand – Indicate that you would like to speak.
- Reactions – Respond without interrupting the speaker.
- Live Captions – Display captions for spoken conversation.
- Share – Share content with other participants when permitted.
Microsoft documents chat, live captions, raise hand, reactions, content sharing, recordings, and other features as Teams meeting capabilities.
Chat
Teams chat provides a way to communicate directly with another person or with a group.
Chats can also be used to share links and files. For information, please see Microsoft's Teams Chat KB - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/teams/meetings/chat-in-microsoft-teams-meetings
Teams and Channels
A Team provides a shared workspace for a group of people.
Within a Team, channels can be used to organize conversations, files, and other resources. Microsoft describes channels as a way to organize a Team around topics, projects, or other areas of collaboration. You may belong to multiple Teams.
